Who Qualifies
Eligibility is based on your income and resources. Some people qualify automatically, including those who have both Medicare and Medicaid, those enrolled in a Medicare Savings Program, or those receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Others may need to apply directly.
How to Apply
You can apply for Extra Help through the Social Security Administration, either online, by phone, or in person. Many people apply for Extra Help around the same time they look into a Medicare Supplement plan or Medicare Advantage plan, since it's worth knowing your full cost picture before choosing coverage.
